About This Opportunity
Park/Procession Guides are absolutely essential to the smooth and safe running of the Night of Dread Pageant evening, both for the volunteer performers and professional artists and audience members watching.
- Before the procession, you’ll give volunteers and audience members directions to washrooms, puppet sign-out, the First Aid station, the C&P Info and T-shirt Sales tent.
- You’ll also communicate to the Stage Manager and/or Park Manager(s) any problems that they may observe so that the event can stay safe and fun for everyone.
- Before and during the procession, Park Guides may also watch over the Cemetery of Fears installation and make sure no gravestones are removed.
- The Procession Guides especially, will walk with the revelers and help to guide folks through the procession route (map included on Page 9), including getting people through intersections safely and efficiently. Park Guides (who do not go on the Procession) may assist in setting up the candles in the performance circle for the scenario with direction from a C&P production leader.
- Once the scenario performance is complete, you will help gather puppets, costumes and props from volunteers and artists and drop them off at Puppet Central.
- A high visibility Park/Procession Guide vest and flashlight are provided.
- Park/Procession Guides will also need to attend ONE forty-five minute orientation session at Christie Pits Park on Wed., Oct. 18th at 6:00 pm. The rain date for the orientation will be Wed., Oct. 25th at 6:00 pm. If this is a challenge, we will try to arrange a one-on-one Zoom call with folks.
We’ll need you at Christie Pits for 3:30 PM on Sat., Oct. 28th, 2023 to pick up your equipment and get any last minute updates and instructions from C&P staff. After the scenario, your role for the evening will have come to an end. Feel free to stick around and enjoy Night of Dread as an audience member! Thank you for your help during the pre-pageant staging and pageant performance!
