About This Opportunity
About this opportunity:
We are thrilled to launch our 2024 Summer Camp program and are seeking volunteers to help out. As a volunteer, you will work alongside staff members to provide a fun and safe environment for campers.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Assist camp counsellors in leading group activities and team-building exercises
- Ensure campers are safe and supervised at all times
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents (occasionally), and other staff members
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Help manage disciplinary issues and conflicts that may arise
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the campsite
- Support staff with snack and meal preparation
Note: Volunteers will have a supporting role and will not be held accountable for the entire group as a whole, while camp counsellors will have leadership roles and will be held accountable for the overall success of the camp program.
Time commitment:
- Camp dates and times: Starting July 8, 2024, from 8: 30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- 4 hours per shift: 8:00 a.m.. to 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Camp locations: TBD
A great candidate for this position will possess the following:
- Must be of 12 years old or older
- At least 3 months of experience working with children, preferred
- Ability to work and communicate well with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to motivate children towards learning new skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct - YOU are the role model
- Ability to provide support and instruction to campers and co-workers
- *CPR-C and AED certification is an asset
