About this opportunity: 

 We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our PA Day Camp program as Volunteer. As a volunteer, you will work alongside our staff members to provide a fun and safe environment for campers. 

 Date:  

 January 2-5, 2024 

 January 19, 2024 

Key responsibilities are as follows: 

  •  Assist camp counsellors in leading group activities and team-building exercises 
  • Ensure campers are safe and supervised at all times 
  • Communicate effectively with campers, parents (occasionally), and other staff members 
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required 
  • Help manage disciplinary issues and conflicts that may arise 
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the campsite 

Note: Volunteer counsellors will have a supporting role and will not be held accountable for the entire group as a whole, while camp counsellors will have leadership roles and will be held accountable for the overall success of the camp program.   

 Time Commitment: 

 4 hours per shift (8:45am-12:30pm / 12:00pm-4:15pm)   

 Camp Locations: 

  •  Markham Village Library 
  • Angus Glen Library   

A great candidate for this position will possess the following: 

  • Must be 12+ years of age 
  • At least 3 months of experience working with children, preferred 
  • Ability to work and communicate well with children, parents, and staff. 
  • Ability to motivate children towards learning new skills 
  • Ability to collaborate with others 
  • Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct- YOU are the role model 
  • Ability to provide support and instruction to campers and co-workers
