About This Opportunity
The ASO ActionLine is a free phone/email service designed to help the Asperger community across Ontario find services, support and resources in their community. As calls/emails come into the ASO, you will be tasked with lending a caring, supportive, listening ear, and helping to gather information about the need(s) of the person calling/emailing. You'll help identify the urgency of the request, and either provide some information about services/resources that might help, or connect the client to a Program Specialist who will provide more direct support to ensure their needs are met.

• Manage and respond to all incoming inquiries.
• Assess the situation, gather information and triage the inquiry for continuing service.
• Formulate an impression of need, and make recommendations regarding the type of service/resource required.
• Research available resources/services and coordinate service with community resources to ensure timeliness of treatment services.
• Refer clients and/or family members to community resources as necessary.
• Track incoming inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
• Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, collect and present data effectively, read and interpret written information, understand the difference between service navigation/information dissemination and counseling.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully.
• Look for ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
• Display willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound, accurate and ethical judgment and make timely decisions.
• Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans. Maintain confidentiality, interact professionally, model a positive teamwork attitude.
Technology Capabilities Requirement: Remote access ability. You will be required to use your own computer/laptop and will be given access to an ASO gmail account that you will use to conduct all ASO- related correspondence. You will need to have the ability to make phone calls using VOIP software (e.g. Google Hangouts).
Time commitment: 5-15 hours/per week (remote)
Screening Requirements: Resume, Interview, Reference Check
Duration: Ongoing with expectation for at least a 6 month duration
Training & Supervision: Training provided through video conference. Training & Supervision conducted by the Executive Director.
The ASO is a small charity with a big heart! We don’t receive any government funding and rely on volunteers like YOU to carry out our mission. We operate virtually so that we can direct our money to where it’s best used – providing help to those who need it! All of our services are offered
