About This Opportunity
The volunteer works directly with program staff, to provide a holistic approach in delivering meaningful activities for a diverse population. The volunteers assist program staff by socializing with clients and help facilitate program activities. The volunteer is supportive in fostering the maintenance of a client’s abilities and, where appropriate, the enhancement of those abilities through the organization of activities that are designed to stimulate and respond to the client’s individual interests and abilities.
Volunteer Needs:
We are looking for volunteers who can help support us by doing the following:
• Assisting with mealtime socialization
• Assisting with recreational programs
• One-on-one socialization
• Volunteers with musical abilities
Time Commitment:
• Weekly - Tuesday or Fridays, any two or three hours between 10:00am to 3:00pm
• Establish regular days and times for visiting the facility
• Volunteers should consider a 3-month commitment
Qualifications:
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and flexibility
• Strong team work skills
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in a group setting
• Aptitude for focusing on the needs of an elderly person or individual with disabilities
• Capacity to be patient, understanding, and compassionate
• Satisfactory Police Records check
