About This Opportunity
Board Member
EISA is looking for Board Members who are driven by the belief that newcomers, with their rich and diverse backgrounds, are critical to the economic growth of Canada. The Board of Directors works with the Executive Director to ensure the effective governance of the organization and meets 9 times a year. Occasionally, Board Members represent EISA by attending various functions or events in the general public.
The Board, being responsible for governance, helps set the organization’s goals, direction, limitations, and accountability. Other key areas of responsibility include: overseeing and monitoring organizational operations and financial operations and management; risk assessment; and management development. Board Members may also participate in committee work and can expect to volunteer 2 to 3 hours a month.
Length of Term: 2 years
We are looking for board volunteers with experience in one of more of the following main areas:
- Accounting Business and banking
- Community leadership Marketing, communications, or public relations
- Fundraising and philanthropy
- Law(preferably in non-profit, business, or immigration law)
- Human resources
- Other categories that meet programmatic and strategic planning goals
Overall, EISA is looking for a diverse group of committed individuals who want to make a difference in their community. The volunteer board position is an excellent opportunity to leverage your experience, add value, make a contribution, and give back to the community.
Applicable Interests: Immigrant settlement issues, multiculturalism, diversity, human resources, finance, marketing, not for profit, and board governance.
Qualifications: No previous board experience is required however, it would be considered an asset.
