About This Opportunity
Our specific focus has been on performing arts opportunities for children and youth. The FPCAF
Founded the Iris Evans Scholarship for the Performing Arts. This scholarship is awarded annually through the Sherwood Park Music Festival to an accomplished young artist aspiring to a professional career. The FPCAF also supported Alberta’s largest circus camp, Under the Big Top, which was held annually at Festival Place over a three-week period in August.
The FPCAF offers annual grants to youth and community groups and presents 8 x $500 grants to local groups to advance their art and cultural programs. Scholarships are also provided to the Sherwood Park Music Festival.
In February 2019, FPCAF launched the Dance Scholarship – the scholarship is an annual event and is valued at $1,000 and is sponsored by Leo and Vivian Broks.
Prior to Covid-19, FPCAF hosted four major fundraisers annually:
• A Day at the Races
• In the Spirit of Festival Place; a tasting of malts and madeira;.
• The Black and White Gala; and
• The Festival of Trees
FPCAF is currently reviewing their fundraising activities but there is an expectation that all board members will volunteer at events.
Board meetings take place monthly and are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month. A schedule is prepared at the beginning of each year. The AGM is usually held annually in September or October.
