About This Opportunity
Overview of the Director’s Role
As a board member, directors work together to govern the charity. Each member plays an integral role and is part of a team whose primary and shared responsibility is to focus on the organization’s high-level strategy, oversight, success, and accountability.
To boost board member engagement, retention, and personal experiences, interested directors may also be appointed to contribute to the work of a Committee in an area of particular interest. This cross-pollination is valuable in fostering a meaningful connection between individual board members, the board as a whole, volunteers, and staff while nurturing a “We Culture” and a sense of belonging.
Board members meet at least four times a year, attend Annual General Meetings, and on occasion special meetings of the members. When possible, directors may also attend special events, promote, and network on behalf of the charity.
