About This Opportunity

Principal Functions:

Compassion Place is governed by an independent Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall consist of five to twelve members, one of which is the Executive Director of Compassion Place. The board operates with an awareness that God has entrusted them with the responsibility of leading the centre. In addition to administering with this common conviction, the directors each provide guidance and support in areas such as finance, administration, and policy, according to their individual fields of expertise. Board members are generous – with money, skills, time or preferably all of the above. They are reliable, showing up for meetings and speaking thoughtfully when they are there. They are public champions of the organization, lending their voice to your message and recruiting new supporters. Responsibilities: The members of the Board of Directors of Compassion Place shall: 1. Establish policies for the operation of Compassion Place, ensuring that the bylaws, policies, and procedures are being followed. 2. Set the centre’s overall program from year to year and engage in long-range planning to ensure and establish its general course for the future. 3. Establish fiscal policy, with budgets and financial controls. 4. Provide adequate resources for the activities of Compassion Place through direct financial contributions and a commitment to fundraising. 5. Represent the board with a unified voice once a decision has been made. 6. Hire and annually evaluate the Executive Director. 7. Develop and maintain a communication link to the community, promoting the work of Compassion Place. 8. Regularly attend all scheduled board and other meetings. 9. An average commitment of 10 hours per month is required. 10. Support Compassion Place and the Executive Director through regular prayer.
