The Dollar Detectives is a not-for-profit social enterprise whose mission is to empower youth to confidently transition through adulthood by building the financial, social, and emotional resilience needed to navigate the world successfully. 

 Position Description Overview 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Career Essentials Lead Facilitator to join our team. As the lead facilitator, you will be responsible for supporting the development of course content and delivering workshops to youth.

Duties and Activities 

  • Guide participants to utilize effective communication, decision making and problem-solving techniques 
  • Co-facilitate with junior facilitators to support their skill development 
  • Deliver creative, innovative and interactive workshops tailored to the needs of participants and in line with up-to-date pedagogical approaches 
  • Assist with creation of course content, troubleshoot problems, and record metrics 
  • Work with agencies, employers, youth, and teachers to identify needed technical information and test materials 
  • Support the creation and maintenance of instructor guides, participant guides, and parent material 
  • Provide guidance and feedback to help participants strengthen skills in finances, self-determination, and career development 

Requirements 

  • Passion for supporting youth from equity-seeking groups 
  • While it is preferred for a background in game-based or hands-on learning education, all levels of experience and education are invited to apply 
  • Degree or diploma in social work, psychology, education or related human service discipline 
  • Have 2+ years of direct experience working with youth, preference for experiences with vulnerable sectors 
  • Experience with curriculum development and virtual learning environments 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, facilitation skills, program planning and administrative abilities 
  • Knowledge of community resources 
  • Proficiency with using computer software, databases and current technology - Completion of a background check 

Location 

Calgary, Alberta (online and in-person) 

Time Commitment 

Hours per week: 5-6 hours per week 

Length of Term: 8 months

 Training 

Introductory 1-hour meeting about program, expectations, and policies 

EDI training (approximately 8-hours) 

Other trainings may be determined, as necessary
