About This Opportunity
Caregivers Together 2024 - Empowering Communities
This is a province-wide, hybrid conference that brings unpaid family & friend caregivers, healthcare professionals and service providers together. Building awareness, community and knowledge around caregiving is essential to empower Alberta’s nearly one-million caregivers.
Without support, we all know that caregiver well-being is tough to sustain. By getting together – in-person and virtually – we can continue to build a community of support for our caregivers, their care recipients, and those that engage with them during their journey.
This volunteer opportunity is suitable for volunteers aged 18 and older. Students currently enrolled in a healthcare program are welcome to volunteer and gain access to and knowledge of the healthcare sector as it relates to caregivers and care recipients.
The majority of caregiver clients we see are older adults who are caregiving for an aging family member, however we support caregivers in many scenarios (mental health, addictions, children living with disabilities and specialized needs, chronic illness, aging, etc).
There are a number of positions available and they include:
- registration/info table - breakout session question runners
- Caregivers Alberta exhibitor booth
- package assembly (prior to conference)
- setup and takedown
- photography
- exhibitor booth liaison (for vendors in health and social care)
Benefits
- Access to and knowledge of the healthcare sector (volunteers will be able to sit in on sessions and explore exhibitor booths when not engaged in their volunteer role)
- Community service learning hours (if required)
- Reference letter written (if required)
- Orientation and training on Caregivers Alberta and the volunteer's specific role during the conference
