About This Opportunity
Duties: Committee Member duties include:
- Attending committee meetings on a regular basis
- Reviewing the agenda and accompanying materials prior to the committee meeting
- Contributing to the discussion of agenda topics, providing comment and feedback.
- Assisting in achieving consensus to identify committee work that achieves the goals of the strategic plan.
- Participating in projects pertinent to committee work
- Assisting the committee chair in budget preparation and reports which are required by the Board
- Participating in succession planning.
- LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT:
3 years
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The committee members are accountable to the Board of Directors.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong communication skills;
- Cultural sensitivity that combines openness to,
- Awareness of diversity across cultures and political environments
- Ability to adapt to new situations and requirements, and develop different approaches to the work of the organization
- Previous experience with a non-profit board an asset
- Commitment of time
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Bruce Peninsula Hospice
clients and families.
ORIENTATION AND TRAINING:
Training should be appropriate to the role of a Committee Member within the organization and may include:
- Mentoring of new committee members by the Committee Chair and committee members;
- Orientation session provided by BPH
- The provision of an orientation manual
- Courses/workshops provided by HPCO and others
