About Good Neighbour Project: 

 The Good Neighbour Project (GNP), launched in March 2020, is a Canadian charity dedicated to providing on-the-ground support to connect isolated vulnerable people with resources and necessities. Created at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, GNP mobilized over 6000 volunteers in 25 cities to address an access gap between equity-seeking members of the community and essential items like food and medication. In addition to its volunteer delivery support program and seniors socialization initiative, GNP is currently developing other poverty relief initiatives.

About Role: 

The Good Neighbour Project (GNP) is seeking a community-focused and passionate individual to join our team as a Communications Officer. The Communications Officer will be responsible for planning and executing GNP’s communication strategy, driving the organization’s branding and marketing efforts. They will lead the communications team in implementing marketing initiatives to expand the organization’s reach and engagement within the community. They will also be at the forefront of shaping GNP’s brand image and maintaining a strong online presence.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement communications and marketing initiatives 
  • Oversee the communications team in crafting creative and engaging graphic/video design content for the GNP website, emails, and social media 
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising Officer to develop relevant marketing materials and promote key fundraising campaigns 
  • Execute communications initiatives aimed towards increasing engagement with the community and expanding the organization’s reach 
  • Review and provide feedback on communications materials produced by the marketing team 
  • Manage the organization’s online presence (ie. website, social media channels) and ensure brand consistency
The Ideal Candidate has the following: 
  • Prior experience in communications, marketing, or a related field 
  • Proficiency in graphic design, video editing software, or website management is an asset 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and most social media platforms 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to cope well under pressure 
  • Experience with developing ideas into action and the ability to coordinate a team to execute the idea
Volunteer Time Commitment: 
  •  A minimum of 5 hours to a maximum of 10 hours per week
