The volunteer role of the Cultural Advisor within Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas, specifically within the Indigenous Initiatives department, is vital to our organization's commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, governments, and advancing the principles of truth, reconciliation, and justice.
The Cultural Advisor's duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities that align with our organization's mission and values, ensuring that we contribute positively to the well-being and cultural vibrancy of Indigenous people in Saskatoon.
Here are some key responsibilities of the Cultural Advisor:

4. Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Partnerships: The Cultural Advisor works on developing and implementing MOUs and partnership agreements with Indigenous organizations and governments. These agreements aim to improve the quality of life for urban Indigenous people and promote cultural preservation.
5. Engagement and Collaboration: Facilitating engagement with various workgroups within our organization and collaborating with external stakeholders, including businesses, institutions, non-profit agencies, and government bodies, is a key duty. This collaboration ensures that Indigenous voices are heard and considered in all relevant matters.
6. Supporting Indigenous Priorities: The Cultural Advisor actively supports the advancement of local Indigenous community priorities. This involves working alongside Indigenous leaders and organizations to identify needs and opportunities for positive change.
