The following should be done as appropriate, not necessarily in the order listed. Frequent circulation throughout the department will help in determining which duty is appropriate at any given time. 

• Stock bay areas with appropriate supplies (see list). 

 • Stock warming cupboard. 

• Errands for staff as necessary. 

• Escort patient from waiting room to assigned bay number and give patient instructions re: undressing, gowns, etc. 

• If required, store patient belonging bags in locker, and record locker number on OR list in Zone 2. 

 • Provide beverage to patients as directed by staff. 

• Patients are only allowed one visitor at a time into the Day Surgery Area – with the exception of children who are allowed two visitors. 

 • Assist with stamping charts for ward clerk • Make up gown packs • Make up ice packs • Sit with patient pre-op if patient requesting company. 

• Assist with discharging patients through the D Wing Entrance. Never leave patient unattended.
