About This Opportunity
At all times, assistance to patients and families is to be considered of primary importance and the duties listed under this heading can be given priority. Other duties may be performed in order of significance ONLY AFTER the duties listed under ‘Assistance to patients and families’ have been performed.
Standards:
• Patient/family are given directions or explanations in a courteous and positive manner
. • Patients/family are pleasantly acknowledged within moments of their arrival in the Imaging Department.
• Patients/family experiences a feeling of genuine and sincere interest in them as they leave the Imaging Department.
• Periodically circulate in the waiting room to see if anyone has any questions or needs something.
• Assist patients by making phone calls for them.
• Assist with stretcher or wheelchair transport to Emergency or Nursing units etc. as requested.
• Periodically check the linen bags. If they are more than half full, change them and take the soiled linen bags to the dirty holding room.
• Assist patients with small children, e.g. holding one while the mother goes with the other child to be x-rayed.
• Keep the patient(s) in the waiting room updated regarding the condition of the Imaging Department and how soon they can expect to be examined.
. • Do not hesitate to bring it to Imaging staff’s attention that a patient’s condition has deteriorated.
• If a patient requests a bedpan or would like to get to the washroom tell a technologist.
