About This Opportunity

Purpose: To assist in the efficient and successful operation of the store and ensure that only quality sellable items reach the sales floor for our customers and voucher clients. Duties and Responsibilities: • Sort through large bags/boxes of donations. • Inspect clothing for cleanliness and damage. • Sort non clothing items into designated bins. • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment. • Report any hazards to Health and safety committee members or management. • Attend the volunteer/staff team meetings and any volunteer training and development opportunities. • Contact the Store Manager or Volunteer coordinator regarding scheduling, time off or other concerns. Time Requirement: Length of Commitment: at least 3 months (probationary period) Estimated Total Hours: at least 4 hours/week. Scheduling: the same shift(s) each week Skills and Qualifications: • Dependable with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. • A good listener and communicator. • Must be sensitive to the life circumstances and needs of clients. • Ability to work in a faith-based organization, adhering to the vision, mission, and values. • Must be age 15 or older. • If 18 or older must be able to provide a basic criminal background check. • Must be able to provide 2 references. • Good attention to detail • Able to stand for long periods of time. • Ability to lift 20 lbs. Orientation and Training: Basic orientation to Mission Services of London begins at the time of application to become a volunteer and continues upon starting the position. Staff of The Mission Store will provide training. Position Location: The Mission Store at 4-797 York Street London Accountability: Store Manager, Team Leads and Volunteer Co-Ordinator
