Overview
The Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society (GEARS) was formed in 2013 to help injured, abandoned, unwanted, and homeless animals. GEARS is a non-profit organization that relies on a network of donors, volunteers and foster homes working together to give companion animals a second chance at their forever family. The Donations Director directly oversees the Donations and Supplies area and team and creates organizational excellence through coordinating prompt pick ups of donated supplies, maintaining supply levels at The Centre, and working with outposts to ensure they are well stocked.
Responsibilities
- Maintain positive relationships with current donors and establish and maintain relationships with new donors
- Monitor donation email daily, and redirect as needed when regarding monetary donations, fundraising, etc. to appropriate person
- Coordinate with transport drivers as needed
- Secure food supplies when needed
- Coordinate supplies needed with outposts
- Set up supply days monthly
- Educate new volunteers on proper donation procedures
- Aid in managing and maintaining enough donations for the GEARS operations
- Communicate regularly with the Board on donations situation
- Oversee donation pick ups are done as soon as possible
- Provides tax receipt information to Treasurer as required
- Maintains accurate Amazon wish list
- Attend monthly board meetings
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous fundraising and donation management experience
- Ability to stay professional and friendly to volunteers, businesses and the public
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stay professional and courteous to volunteers and the public
- Professionalism, resourcefulness, dependability, and flexibility
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently, and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain positive, regular communication with foster homes and volunteers
- Commitment to honesty, integrity, and confidentiality
- Prior work with nonprofit organizations a plus
Reports into: President and Vice-President
Direct reports: Donations and Warehouse Team
Investment from the organization:
- Orientation to GEARS
- Responsiveness from Executive as needed
- Training with Google applications and relevant databases
Expected investment of this role:
- Requires a daily commitment, with a monthly commitment of at least 10 hours. Potentially could increase on an as needed basis.
- This position is very demanding at times, and will need to have clear boundaries set
