About This Opportunity
This program supports families with children ages 0–4 who may be experiencing stress, isolation, or mental health challenges such as postpartum depression. Volunteers provide short-term, in-home support so parents can take a break and focus on their well-being.
Volunteers engage infants and toddlers in nurturing, age-appropriate activities that promote healthy development (gross/fine motor skills, language, and social development).
What You’ll Do
Visit one family weekly (3 hours, same day/time each week)
Engage and supervise children (0–4 years)
Support developmental play and learning activities
Engage in supportive conversation with mom
Share information about community resources
Accompany families to local programs (e.g., EarlyON, library)
Complete a weekly visit log
Attend training and meetings
Commitment
3 hours per week (plus travel and logs)
Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm (no evenings/weekends)
12-week family match
3–6 month commitment
Requirements
Experience caring for newborns and toddlers
Knowledge of child development
Comfortable providing in-home support
Strong communication and active listening skills
Cultural sensitivity
Vulnerable Sector Screening required/or in progress
