About This Opportunity
Edible Garden Education Volunteers support We Grow Food’s school-based garden and education programs. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy the outdoors, working with children, supporting community initiatives, and contributing to hands-on learning experiences.
Volunteers may assist with:
- Program setup and takedown
- Supporting educational activities alongside staff
- Helping students during planting days
- Sharing basic information about gardens and growing food
- Occasional opportunities for assisting with garden bed preparation
Time Commitment & Scheduling
- Opportunities are typically half-day or full-day at one school
- Activities take place during school hours
- Most opportunities occur during peak planting season (May–June)
- Average commitment is 3–4 hours per week during peak season
- Some opportunities are available in the fall
- Occasional weekend event opportunities may be available
No gardening experience is required. Training and guidance are provided on-site.
