About This Opportunity

Edible Garden Education Volunteers support We Grow Food’s school-based garden and education programs. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy the outdoors, working with children, supporting community initiatives, and contributing to hands-on learning experiences.


Volunteers may assist with:

  • Program setup and takedown
  • Supporting educational activities alongside staff
  • Helping students during planting days
  • Sharing basic information about gardens and growing food
  • Occasional opportunities for assisting with garden bed preparation

Time Commitment & Scheduling

  • Opportunities are typically half-day or full-day at one school
  • Activities take place during school hours
  • Most opportunities occur during peak planting season (May–June)
  • Average commitment is 3–4 hours per week during peak season
  • Some opportunities are available in the fall
  • Occasional weekend event opportunities may be available

No gardening experience is required. Training and guidance are provided on-site.
