About This Opportunity
The Volunteer Editor & Content manager helps strengthen volunteerism in two ways. First, by ensuring that all RLC content is well-written, this role enhances the professional development of Volunteer Engagement (VE) professionals and increases their capacity to engage volunteers. Secondly, this role encourages greater numbers of volunteers to get involved in their communities by ensuring that content targeted to them is accessible and well-written.
Under the supervision of the Director of Volunteerism, this role will:
- Read and edit copy to be published in the RLC to detect and correct errors in spelling, grammar and syntax
- Input copy into the admin section of the RLC using established lay-out and style
- Select an appropriate image to include with the content
- Conducts research on other online articles related to volunteer management and engagement that may be suitable to repost in the RLC (with permission)
- Potential to contribute their own original content related to volunteerism and volunteer engagement
- Talent, ability and interest in editing (samples of work required)
- Talent, ability and interest in writing is an asset
- Strong demonstrated interest in volunteerism
- Ability to quickly grasp how the Volunteer Success platform works
- Comfortable using publishing software and other relevant sites, such as Canva or other sources of free graphic images
- Ability to do online research and locate relevant material quickly
- Able to work independently
- Able to work as part of a small team, contributing ideas for new content to be sourced or written
- Volunteer is required to have their own computer and internet access
