The drop-in program will provide education, fitness, recreation, and social opportunities. 1:1 support will engage residents in regular weekly conversations (phone or in-person) for socialization, as well as to empower residents to make new connections, create and achieve goals, and deal with challenges. Come alongside us as we pursue our goal in Strengthening Belonging, Community, and Informal Care in Public Housing.
You will help people who are vulnerable, including seniors, who live alone or with low income, are at risk of isolation, or who face multiple barriers that affect equity and quality of life.
What we are looking for in a Student/Volunteer:

· You enjoy spending time with seniors and/or people with disabilities.
· You are willing to travel to designated housing buildings in Windsor-Essex.
· You can provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
· You can provide two professional and/or volunteer references.
· You can commit to volunteering for 1-2 hours each week for at least 6 months. If you are a student, hours will vary according to placement requirements.
· You are aged 18+ and have a reliable vehicle for transportation to and from designated building locations.
· You are willing to complete a brief orientation with CSC HR Manager and an orientation/training session with WECCC staff.
What you will be doing (depending on the role assigned):
· Students/Volunteers can work in either or both program streams (one on one through phone and/or in-person visits or in-person group settings), depending on availability and preferences.
· You will develop skills in planning, assessment, delivery, follow-up, communication, interprofessional teamwork and quality improvement. Duties will vary depending upon assigned program.
· You will receive training, guidance and practice in some or all of the following areas: (1) systematic social health risk screening; (2) person-directed, goal-oriented, and quality of life focused assessment, care planning and community navigation intervention; (3) recurring prevention-focused socialization, activation and behavior change; (4) wellness-oriented group programs (public education, peer support, intergenerational); (5) use of person-reported quality of life assessment, outcome and experience measures to improve social health, quality of life and reduce unmet needs.
· Students/Volunteers in the 1:1 program will be responsible for maintaining and updating required documentation each week after each visit.
· Students/volunteers in the drop-in program will assist and/or lead in facilitating drop-in recreation and wellness workshops for residents with approval from WECCC staff (Ie: arts, music, wellness activities, games, fitness, etc.)
