The Marketing Director of the Board of Directors within the non-profit environmental charity Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas plays a pivotal role in promoting the organization's mission, raising awareness, and engaging the community. This position involves diverse responsibilities related to marketing, communication, social media and community outreach. This is a virtual/in person role. This is a volunteer position of 2 years. Commitment attend monthly meetings virtually once a month (not July/August) (Time commitment is one hour board meetings + project-specific advocacy)

2. Brand Management: Ensure consistency and integrity of the organization's brand identity across all communication channels. Maintain brand guidelines and oversee the creation of marketing materials that reflect the organization's values and mission.
3. Digital Marketing: Leverage digital platforms such as the organization's website, social media, email marketing, and online advertising to reach and engage the community. Create and curate content that showcases the organization's work, events, and impact.
4. Content Creation: Produce high-quality, engaging content in various formats, including articles, blog posts, videos, and graphics, to tell the organization's story, share success stories, and convey its environmental conservation message.
5. Public Relations: Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure media coverage and promote the organization's initiatives. Prepare and distribute press releases and media kits as needed.
6. Community Engagement: Foster meaningful connections with the community through outreach events, workshops, and educational programs. Encourage participation in the organization's environmental projects and activities.
7. Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the fundraising team to create marketing campaigns and materials that appeal to donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations. Highlight the impact of donations on the organization's mission.
8. Event Promotion: Promote organization-sponsored events, fundraisers, and workshops to maximize attendance and community participation. Create event marketing plans, including online and offline promotion strategies.
9. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, environmental issues, and community concerns. Conduct market research and audience analysis to tailor marketing efforts effectively.
10. Analytics and Measurement: Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, content engagement, website traffic, and social media metrics. Use data-driven insights to refine marketing strategies.

Collaboration with Partners: Build partnerships and collaborations with other environmental organizations, government agencies, local businesses, and community groups to amplify the organization's impact and reach. 12. Advocacy and Education: Use marketing channels to advocate for environmental conservation, raise awareness of environmental issues, and provide educational resources to the community.
13. Crisis Communication: Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to address any negative publicity or emergencies effectively. Maintain transparency and trust in challenging situations.
14. Budget Management: Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and within the organization's financial constraints.
15. Reporting to the Board: Provide regular reports and updates to the Board of Directors on marketing initiatives, outcomes, and challenges.
16. Volunteer and Staff Management: If applicable, manage and coordinate marketing volunteers or staff members, ensuring their roles and responsibilities are well-defined.
