Why we need you
It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in support of the senior community in Peel Region to alleviate social isolation, and provide information on services, activities, and resources designed for HEALTHY LIVING, AGING WELL to enhance the well-being and quality of life for seniors age 55+.
Role Details
When you volunteer at Elder Help Peel you have real impact. It takes all of us to take on social isolation and loneliness that affects many seniors. Volunteer with us at our one of our signature events in your community on event day. You can choose a specific role and shift(s) based on availability. You can also assist us when we need event support on an on-call basis in your own community.
This year’s event will be taking place in Brampton on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Onsite volunteer duties:
- Keeping track of the number of attendees
- Greeting and registration of attendees
- Directing attendees and providing information
- Escorting exhibitors to their assigned booth
- Providing exhibitors logistical assistance as needed
- Distributing tote bags to attendees
- Set-up/take-down of the event
- Distributing the event schedule
- Conducting satisfaction surveys with attendees during the event
- Providing general support as needed
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate for this volunteer role has:
- Be 19+ year of age
- Good verbal/written English communication skills
- Excellent people skills
- Positive and outgoing attitude
- Friendly and approachable
- Punctual and reliable
- Long periods of standing and walking during the event
- Availability from 8:30am-4:30pm with a lunch break
- Must have a fully charged, operative cell phone with them (for assistance/guidance that may arise during the event)
Training
- Information including the meeting spot and staff lead will be provided to all volunteers in advance of the event day during the online meeting
- Staff members on-site provide additional orientation and guidance during the event.
