Position Overview
Join the Vaughan Film Festival’s Cast Team — the heart of our Events Team!
We’re looking for passionate, driven, and reliable event volunteers who want to be part of the action behind the scenes at our film screenings, awards show, community events, and other special programming throughout the year.
As a Cast Team member, you’ll help bring world-class film experiences to life — supporting logistics, hospitality, and audience engagement while gaining hands-on experience in the arts, culture, and live events industry.
This is an exciting opportunity to build professional skills, make lasting connections, and contribute to one of Vaughan’s most dynamic cultural organizations.
Time Commitment
Volunteers must be available for:
- Monthly in-person team meetings at our Vaughan office (occasionally twice per month)
- All major festival events and select year-round programming
- Additional commitments as needed based on event requirements
This is a 1-year volunteer role with the possibility of renewal.
What You'll Do
- Attend mandatory monthly in-person meetings at our Vaughan office
- Support festival events and activities in various roles based on event needs
- Stay connected and responsive through WhatsApp and email
- Help amplify VFF’s reach by engaging with us on social media (likes, comments, shares)
- You’ll play a hands-on role at events, assisting wherever needed to help ensure smooth operations and a great guest experience.
Examples of Event Roles (entry level)
- Guest check-in and registration
- Audience engagement and crowd coordination
- Box office support
- Red carpet and media wall assistance
- Talent support and hospitality
- Event setup and teardown
What We’re Looking For
- 18+ years old
- Ontario high school graduate (or equivalent)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (required; at volunteer’s expense)
- Active WhatsApp account
- Reliable, committed, and professional
- Positive attitude, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Calm and composed under pressure
- Flexible and adaptable in fast-changing, high-pressure environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Comfortable speaking and interacting with staff and guests of all levels
- Passionate about film, arts, and live events
- Previous event or film festival experience is an asset — not required
