As an Executive Board Member of the Women Cybersecurity Society (WCS2), you will play a crucial role in shaping and leading the organization's mission to empower and support women in the field of cybersecurity. You will work alongside a diverse team of professionals dedicated to fostering inclusivity, promoting professional development, and advocating for gender equality within the cybersecurity industry. Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with fellow board members to establish long-term goals, strategic plans, and initiatives for the organization.
- Provide guidance and support in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and operational strategies.
- Drive the vision and mission of the Women Cybersecurity Society, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and objectives.
Governance and Oversight:
- Actively participate in board meetings, providing insights, ideas, and perspectives on key matters.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of governance policies, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the organization's performance, programs, and initiatives, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:
- Represent the Women Cybersecurity Society at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and promote the organization's mission.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, partner organizations, and government agencies, to foster collaboration and advocacy efforts.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the cybersecurity community, advocating for gender equality and women's empowerment.
Fundraising and Resource Development:
- Collaborate with the board to develop and implement fundraising strategies, including identifying potential sponsors, partners, and donors.
- Support the execution of fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to secure financial resources for the organization's programs and activities.
- Explore grant opportunities and assist in the development of grant proposals and funding applications.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with other board members, committees, volunteers, and staff to achieve the organization's goals.
- Support and mentor volunteers, providing guidance and encouragement in their roles within the Women Cybersecurity Society.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a shared sense of purpose.
Qualifications:
Strong passion for promoting gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in the cybersecurity industry.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts, challenges, and trends.
- Experience serving in a leadership capacity, preferably on a nonprofit board or in a relevant professional setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to the development and execution of organizational strategies. Proven track record in fundraising, resource development, or partnership building is desirable.
- Familiarity with governance best practices and legal requirements for nonprofit organizations is advantageous. Commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
