WEDNESDAY MORNINGS: (8:45-12:00 - RECEIVING)
-Responsible for receiving and unloading all deliveries to the Food Pantry on Wednesday mornings.
-Check best before dates and load fridges and freezers accordingly.
-Split and bag all produce from Clearwater Farms. Label totes with distribution dates.
-Accept food donations from FBYR (Food Bank of York Region) and check best before dates and quality before accepting.
- Ensure all food accepted is usable and in good condition and that we have room in our coolers and freezers.
-Once food is accepted, you MUST help to sort the food so it's ready for distribution on Thurs & Fri
-Make sure milk is not out of date - if it is, please offer it to our volunteers and staff or distribute to other organizations in the building. Same with bananas.
-Liaison between local farmers donations and coordinating pick up and drop off times I.e.) Corn, Apples, Squash and other seasonal items.
-Coordinate with Holtrops Farm, TRFN and arrange for gleaning at Round the Bend Farm seasonally.
FRIDAY AFTERNOON: (12:00-1:30 - FOOD COUNT)
-After food service on Friday afternoon and once the remaining food items are all put away, all left over food i.e., Milk, Eggs, Meat, Bagels, Produce, and yogurt need to be counted and presented to the Food Program Coordinator.
-Re-Labelling of leftover items and their dates for next week's food service days.
