About This Opportunity
This role requires someone who is always respectful of all abilities, cultures, lifestyles and backgrounds and can maintain a strict confidentiality level. This an opportunity to be present for someone, brighten their day through conversation and help promote their positive wellbeing.
Key Accountabilities
- Promote a sense of wellbeing and contribute to the morale of the clients.
- Conduct visits with persons who are isolated for a variety of reasons such as physical illness or confinement
- Be warm, courteous and approachable
- Make eye contact and be attentive
- Provide friendly visitations and chats
- Maybe asked to reflect with the client
- Provide a positive and reassuring outlook
- Adhere to confidentiality practices
Qualifications
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Good clear communications skills
- Accepting of direction and supervision
- Dependable and committed
- Ability to initiate and maintain conversations while maintaining professional boundaries
- Familiarity with Geriatrics and/or vulnerable populations an asset (mental health, addictions, homelessness)
Working Conditions
The work environment is typically agreeable at work sites within residential settings and may require working under the following conditions: dealing with potentially disagreeable participants.
Time Commitment:
2 hour weekly visit - once a week
Monday thru Friday
9:30 am - 11:30 am
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Long term commitment preferred: 6+ months .
