About This Opportunity
Game On! is a site-based program for young boys in grades 6-8 to promote a healthy lifestyle and informed decision-making. The mentor's primary role is to guide, facilitate, and support the group through various activities and discussions on different topics each week of the program. Game On! covers multiple topics, such as mental health and coping strategies, healthy eating habits, and forming positive peer relationships. The goal of Game On! is to empower the boys and equip them with the necessary skills and strengths to lead positive lifestyles.
For Mentors:
As a Game On! mentor, your responsibility is to establish supportive and meaningful relationships with the boys and act as a positive male role model. Mentors are matched with another volunteer to jointly support the boys. Game On! mentors will meet with their assigned group of boys once a week for eight weeks, during which you will lead a 1-1.5 hour session.
