About This Opportunity
There are both morning and afternoon shifts available from 9:30am-12:00pm and from 1:00pm-3:30pm. We ask for a minimum of 1 shift a week.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
· -Providing customer service to residents, staff and visitors.
· -Use the Morris computer system to sell items
· -Restocking shelves and doing inventory checks.
Requirements:
· -Excellent verbal communication skills
· -Comfortable interacting with seniors
· -Patient, kind and positive
· -Enjoy being part of a team and working effectively with others
· -Ability to learn a basic computer system
· -Ability to work independently after initial training (help is just a phone call away)
· -Must be comfortable interacting with others
· -Orientation will be provided for every volunteer
· -Training on the computer system will be given when you begin
· -Opportunity to shadow an experienced general store volunteer prior to beginning
· -Ongoing on-the-job training will be provided as necessary
Joining us
-Fill out the Volunteer Application Form
-Attend a brief interview with the Volunteer Coordinator
-Apply for a Vulnerable Sector police check from your local police station if you are 18 years of age or older – submit it to the Volunteer Coordinator when complete
-Obtain a 2-step TB skin test (from The Elliott Community, the Public Health Unit or your family doctor)
-Attend orientation & start volunteering!
