About This Opportunity
Go Girls! is a site-based program for young girls in grades 6-8 to promote a healthy lifestyle and informed decision-making. The mentor's primary role is to guide, facilitate, and support the group through various activities and discussions on different topics each week of the program. Go Girls! covers multiple topics, such as mental health and coping strategies, self-esteem, healthy eating habits, and forming positive peer relationships. The goal of Go Girls! is to empower the girls and equip them with the necessary skills and strengths to lead positive lifestyles.
For Mentors:
As a Go Girls! mentor, your responsibility is to establish supportive and meaningful relationships with the girls and act as a positive role model. Go Girls! mentors will meet with their assigned group of girls once a week for eight weeks, during which you will lead a 1-1.5 hour session. We require our mentors to commit to fulfilling the entirety of the 8-week program.
To become a Go Girls! Mentor:
- Be female-identifying
- Be over 18 years of age
- Be willing to undergo a police check/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Be willing to undergo reference checks
- Be willing to complete an interview
- Be willing to complete Pre-Match training

Mentors are matched with another volunteer to jointly support the girls over eight weeks. Over the course of the mentoring relationship, mentors are supported and supervised by a professional caseworker to ensure the best experience for both mentors and mentees.
