Provide information, support, and resources to individuals with Down Syndrome in BC and their families.
Supply information about Down Syndrome and resources to people and organizations who support.

Advocate those governments and proper agency provide the special resources often needed by individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.
Lobby for proper educational, vocational, and social opportunities
Support families and increase public awareness.
Network with other organizations and individuals
PURPOSE OF ROLE
This role is responsible for managing the writing and submission of grant applications and reports for the society.
To seek out and gather grants and fulfill the necessary requirements of various funding bodies to formally seek funding on behalf of the Society.
Grant Writer to have the skills, experience and expertise needed to prepare high quality letters of intent and grant applications.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Must gain a complete understanding of the program for which he/she is requesting funding for.
Will be interviewing key people within the society and perform comprehensive research into the project.
Perform in-depth research into grant-making organizations.
Write grant applications that display meticulous grammar and spelling.
Analyze the feasibility of the project’s budget.
Research each grant-making association’s guidelines.
Strictly adhere to these guidelines.
Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering, and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
Must meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
Enters and monitors tracking data.
After sending a grant proposal, stay connected with each grant-making organization to check on the progress.
If asked, send progress reports to any grant-making organization that has funded a program
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
Building and organizing our donor database.
Building relationships with new and existing donors.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
2 years' experience in this field.
Must be able to make proposals sound so attractive that the grant-making company will be happy to fulfill your request.
Need to use both analytical and creative skills.
Must be able to choose the most creative solution for presenting the grant proposal.
Creative problem-solving talents.
Must have excellent face to face, and telephone conversational skills.
Must be prudent and can work within the proposed budget.
Highly attentive to detail.
Organized, self-directed, and able to work independently, or with a team.
Deadline oriented.
Marketing Experience.
Graphic Design skills.
OTHER INFORMATION
This volunteer position will be 5 to 10 hours per month depending on the activities of the society.
