GRANT WRITER (VOLUNTEER) 

We are looking for a Grant Writer for Smiles Foundation. If you have knowledge and experience in creative writing, researching, developing, and submitting proposals and would like to apply your skills and knowledge for a good cause. 

It is an opportunity to gain further experience in the field of charity and be a part of a dynamic, supportive team where your contribution would matter. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Research and identify grant opportunities based on funding amount needed, location, and project organization. 
•  Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations. 
• Track and create a calendar of grant opportunities - including deadline dates, required materials, etc. 
• Complete grant applications. 
• Successfully understand and communicate the organization’s mission and vision. 
• Report regularly on the status of your work.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Excellent written communication skills-proficiency in English. 
• Top-shelf research skills. 
• Ability to understand the requirements of both the foundation in need of funding and the organization that is offering the grant money. 
• Great organizational skills. 
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to use and access database computer applications and/or willingness to learn. 
• Ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines. 
• Being able to understand and execute complex instructions Computer skills: Google Drive/Google Docs. 
• Ability to work from home. 

Dedication: 10 - 20 hours per week. 

Education and Experience: 

• Writer, journalist, teacher, marketing specialist, social services, sociology, or a closely related field. 
• A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
