About This Opportunity

 Canada Volunteer Opportunity

 Growling Beaver Brevet Volunteers

Parkinson Canada believes in a better life today for People Living with Parkinson’s, and a world without Parkinson’s tomorrow. Canada has some of the world’s highest rates, and it is growing quickly. People living with Parkinson’s are at the centre of everything we do at Parkinson Canada. We provide education and services, and we advocate with federal, provincial, and territorial governments on issues that matter to the Parkinson’s community in Canada.

The Parkinson Research Program funds innovative research to search for better treatments and a cure. People living with Parkinson’s count on us to be there at every step of their Parkinson’s journey. To learn more about us, please visit www.parkinson.ca.

 The Opportunity

Gear up for Parkinson’s research! Founded by Canadians for Canadians, The Growling Beaver Brevet invites cyclists to ride towards progress by funding research and raising awareness for Parkinson Canada. We are looking for people interested in making a difference to volunteer for our event in Collingwood, Ontario.

Your Contribution

Your enthusiasm and love for helping others makes you an ideal Pedaling for Parkinson’s volunteer. You are the type of person who would enjoy helping event participants and other volunteers excel at their tasks. There are many exciting roles to choose from the day of the event:

  •  Set up & Registration
  •  Food prep
  •  Rest stops and route marshals
  •  Dinner coordinator (set up, directing participants, 50-50 tickets)
  •  Anything else that may come up.

What is Needed to Succeed in this Role

  •  Enjoys working as part of a team
  •  Positive and enthusiastic attitude
  •  Able and comfortable to spend time outdoors (some roles)
  •  Possess an interest in working with Parkinson Canada and with Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their families

 Benefits for Volunteers

As a volunteer for the Growling Beaver event, you will have the opportunity to develop new skills outside of regular employment. You will work with an excellent group of people and be able to network with others in a related field. Most importantly you will make an impact in the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.

 Commitment

The event takes place September 30th 2023. The window of volunteer time during those days is 8-10 hours. Depending on your role you could be needed at various times throughout that time frame. There may be some opportunities to volunteer pre and post event as well.
