About This Opportunity

Gutsy Walk Logistics Captain

Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.

This role involves in-person interactions. Crohn’s and Colitis Canada encourages volunteers and community members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by their local or provincial Public Health authorities. We take the health, safety and well-being of our volunteers seriously, especially in light of the fact that people with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis may have compromised immune systems, which is why we continue to follow the guidance of local Public Health authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct
  • Ensure that Gutsy Walk day is a positive and safe experience for all stakeholders
  • Collaborate with staff partner and other committee members to identify event equipment requirements and limitations
  • Develop and lead execution of a comprehensive logistics schedule including equipment delivery pick-ups, set-up, tear-down, drop-offs
  • Create a master venue layout with key elements including power sources, washrooms, food and refreshment distribution, tents, and signage
  • Be the on-site expert for venue information elements (e.g. electricity), including liaison with park and municipal officials
  • Follow the contingency plan document provided by the staff partner in case of emergency
  • Act as a role model by registering for Gutsy Walk and supporting fundraising, directly or indirectly (by sharing new ideas and leads, doing your own fundraising, promoting the event amongst your network.
  • Ensure that all of the Gutsy Walk Event Standards are followed
  • Be an active participant in all committee meetings
