About This Opportunity

Position: Head Coach - Rhythmic Gymnastics 

Location: Burnaby 

Role Overview: As the Head Coach for Rhythmic Gymnastics at Special Olympics BC - Burnaby, you will lead and mentor our rhythmic gymnastics program, providing athletes with high-quality training and guidance. This role is pivotal in creating a positive, inclusive environment where athletes with intellectual disabilities can thrive and achieve their full potential. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Program Development: Design and implement engaging training programs tailored to the needs and abilities of each athlete. Ensure that training sessions are structured, fun, and skill-focused. 

Coaching: Lead and conduct regular practice sessions, providing technical instruction, feedback, and support to athletes. Foster a motivating and encouraging atmosphere. 

Athlete Support: Monitor athletes' progress, set goals, and provide individualized support to help them improve their skills and confidence. 

Team Collaboration: Work closely with other coaches, volunteers, and staff to ensure seamless coordination and a unified approach to training and competitions. 

Event Management: Oversee participation in local, regional, and national competitions, ensuring athletes are well-prepared and supported throughout. 

Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with athletes, families, and the local community. Promote the program and recruit new participants as needed. 

Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in coaching rhythmic gymnastics, preferably with athletes of varying abilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate athletes. 
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage with the local community.
