About This Opportunity
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our House Teams and assist in delivering a highly popular event that allows ticket-holders to explore Vancouver’s beautiful heritage houses and sites. With your volunteer commitment you receive the perk of a ticket to enjoy the event after your shift!
You will be part of one of our House Teams, which are comprised of up to 12 volunteers directed by a House Lead volunteer. Teams assist with the set-up and/or clean up of the house, direct ticket holders through the house, enforce tour guidelines, answer questions, and maintain safety/security of the house. Heritage Discovery Day & House tour is a one-day event taking place on June 1st. Volunteers will remain in one location for the duration of their shift as the tour is "self-guided."
Event Location: South Vancouver, multiple locations
Event Date: Saturday, June 1st
Time Commitment: 4.5 hour shift on June 1st + 1 hour training session
Support: Volunteers report to the Volunteer Manager and will be supported on event day by VHF staff members. Questions can be directed to caroline@vancouverheritagefoundation.org.
What we are looking for:
- 16+ years of age
- Positive and friendly attitude with great inter-personal skills and eager to connect with diverse audiences
- Able to take direction and manage tasks independently
- Willing and comfortable enforcing rules to the public
- Knowledge about heritage, architecture or history is not necessary, but very welcome
