About This Opportunity

Volunteers visit hospice clients weekly or bi-weekly to provide emotional support, engage in memory making and/or recreational activities, assist with practical tasks such as running errands and helping with household duties, and gives relief to caregivers to have a break. They assess the need for additional services that the hospice provides and collaborates with the hospice care team to meet clients' goals of care.

Commitment:

  • 1 year of service minimum, with a variety of shift availability offered

Screening:

  • Interview, references and a vulnerable sector police check is required for this role

Training & Orientation:

  • Volunteers supporting hospice clients must complete Core Training, with additional pediatric-focused training for those interested in supporting our Children and Family programs. Combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions

Requirements:

  • *Proficiency in English is required, ability to speak multiple languages an asset, Must be able to complete trainings, Comfortable working online to fulfil administrative requirements, Demonstrate a caring, mature, and compassionate attitude
