About This Opportunity
Every day, VON volunteers help make Canadian communities healthier. If you want to give back to your community by sharing your time and caring for others, we have a role for you.
When you become a VON Volunteer we will match your interests and availability to a volunteer role that’s right for you. We offer the training you need and ensure you are supported through frequent communication – support is always a call away.
A Hospice Volunteer will provide emotional support, practical assistance within the bounds of the role as a volunteer and respite help as clients and caregivers face a life-threatening illness, death and bereavement. The volunteer in this role is expected to:
- Provide weekly visits to an individual who is palliative or suffering from a life-threatening terminal illness to offer emotional and caring support
- Make visits that are 1-2 times a week and anywhere from 2-4 hours long
- Must have at least 2 doses of the Covid vaccine and provide proof
- A pre-requisite of our Palliative Training course is required, VON covers the registration process and fees for you!
Volunteer Requirements
Whether you meet these requirements or not, we encourage you to share your interest in us. You may still be a fit for a different opportunity with our organization.
