About This Opportunity

Harbourfront Centre is recruiting volunteers for JUNIOR Festival!

JUNIOR, one of Canada’s largest children’s festivals, is returning to Harbourfront Centre this spring! Our west campus will be bustling with an exciting schedule of performances in theatre, dance, music and interactive activities for children ages 5–12, all designed to inspire children to recognize their limitless potential and learn about the world around them and connect with the community. It’s a long weekend full of surprises, fun and joy. Bring the whole family!

When: JUNIOR will run from Saturday May 20 to Monday May 22, 2023. Day time and evening shifts are available. All shifts take place on site at Harbourfront Centre.

Positions Available: JUNIOR Festival relies on the support of volunteers. We have many volunteer opportunities to choose from, and we are currently recruiting for the following positions:

  • Activity Assistant: Welcome families to take part in activities, distribute materials, and assist facilitator.
  • Craft Assistant: Assist families with craft activities, including set up and clean up. Demonstrate and explain craft to families and assist the craft facilitator as needed.
  • Team Leader: Responsible for directing a team of 5 – 10 volunteers. Team leaders meet and brief volunteers on their duties and responsibilities, dispatch volunteers around the campus, assess volunteer shifts and re-distribute volunteers and arrange breaks.
  • Visitor Experience Ambassador:  Act as a representative of Harbourfront Centre by welcoming patrons to the site, answering questions and assisting with wayfinding.
  • Hospitality Assistant: Monitor Artist Lounge, welcome artists and replenish snacks and beverages as needed. Cooking Demo Assistants support Cooking Demo facilitators by passing out samples, and assisting with crowd control.
