Located in Southwestern Scarborough, Ontario, Variety Village is an inclusive, adaptive, and family-friendly facility serving more than 30,000 individuals each year. Variety Village has had, and continues to have, a profound impact on the lives of people with disabilities and their families. Through adaptive sport and recreation programming, outreach and education, Variety promotes inclusion and healthy living through adapted physical activity.

Event:

Variety Village is working with RBC and Marigolds & Onions to bring a fun and rare volunteer experience to Canada’s biggest golf tournament of the year! We are currently recruiting volunteers who have experience working in customer service and the food/beverage industry.


Primary Responsibilities or Tasks: 

• Following directions and providing support to the Variety Village staff during event

Working as cashiers using a POS system at multiple station kiosks around the venue (e.g. VIP stations, course stations, concert stations) 

• Stock replenishment and back of house food service support (i.e. food assembly) 

• SMART SERVE required for the handling of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)


Desired Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Competencies): 

• Strong communication and customer service skills 

• Enthusiastic, friendly, and punctual 

• Ability to work in a team environment 

• Dependable, flexible and adaptable approach to work 

• SMART SERVE Certification and/or Food Handlers Certification is an asset but not required 

• Due to the nature of this position, volunteers must be physically able to stand for the entirety of the shift 

• Due to the nature of this event, volunteers need to be 19 years old and up 

• Able to represent Variety, the Children’s Charity in a positive and professional manner always with staff, volunteers, and customers


Orientation/Training: 

• Virtual training will be provided through Variety, the Children’s Charity 

• A waiver form will be sent to you which must be completed before the day of the event

Additional Information:

• Volunteers are required to wear a Variety, the Children’s Charity t-shirt, provided to you on the event day 

• Volunteers are required to always adhere to the direction of Variety staff instructions 

• Volunteers are required to sign in and sign out at the event- the sign-up sheets will be provided 

• Please be prepared to volunteer in rain or shine
