The Activities Department in Hyland Crest ( Minden) and Highland Wood (Haliburton) LTC provides a structured and therapeutic, group and individualized programming for adults who are living in LTC. Activities are created to assist residents in achieving and maintaining their maximum level of functioning and to enhance their physical, social, spiritual, intellectual and emotional wellbeing. Our volunteers are an essential component in assisting our staff in providing the best programming and personal attention to our residents enhancing their experience in LTC. 

General Duties: 

•  Meet and greet residents, spend some time, simply talk , share a game of cards or participate in a shared hobby Encourage and assist residents to attend activities 
• Support programming by helping run an activity or helping set up and take down displays 
• Help with organization of the activities. 
•  Volunteer to provide entertainment (musicians, storytellers, actors etc) 
•  Share your interests and passions with the residents ( topic discussions, crafts, games, hobbies) 
• Helping with snacks or mealtimes as directed by staff 
• You will not do any resident personal care like toileting 
• Flexible times and days, evenings, weekends to suit your schedule

   Volunteering in LTC gives you experience and lets you observe all the different roles that make a Long Term Care home function including RN, RPN, PSW, Recreation Therapy, facilities maintenance, and dietary.
