About This Opportunity
Food security remains the number concerns for seniors living in poverty. We have seen an increase in the demand for meals, and volunteers play a key role in helping to meet this need. Volunteers deliver kosher meals and provide a brief security check to isolated seniors in the community.
- Meal pick-up is at the Bernard Betel Centre located at 1003 Steeles Avenue West (Steeles Avenue West and Bathurst Street)
- Volunteers use their own vehicles for delivery and are provided a small reimbursement per route
- Meal delivery is Monday through Thursday and meal pick-up is between 10:00 and 10:30 am.
- Volunteers are given a route and delivery takes between 1 to 1.5 hours
- Volunteers can be given a regular weekly route or can be a back-up volunteer to be called when a regular volunteer cancels or is away
- Our delivery area covers Dufferin Street to Bayview Avenue (east/west) and Hwy 407 to Hwy 401 (north/south). Volunteers can be assigned a route that is close to where they live/work
