About This Opportunity

Volunteer description:

Meaningful Co-Op opportunity for students interested in Medical Administration/Pediatrics! Our busy, pediatric clinic is seeking a professional, enthusiastic and compassionate Student Co-Op Placement Volunteer to join our team in Toronto. The Medical Receptionist provides primary clerical and administrative support to health care providers to deliver optimal, high-quality patient and family-centred paediatric care.


Responsibilities


  • Maintain a positive attitude and work cohesively with fellow team members to promote trust, respect and cooperation
  • You will serve as the first impression for our patients, greeting patients upon arrival and register and confirm relevant details (i.e. health card number, contact information, etc.)
  • Book appointments and register new patients into the electronic medical records program (EMR)
  • Provide exceptional patient care over the phone for appointment bookings and voicemail follow ups
  • Prepare patient rooms for physician visits and restock with medical supplies
  • Process incoming and outgoing physician referrals
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies
  • Manage supply and storage of vaccines, ensuring compliance with public health unit regulations


Qualifications and Skills


  • Excellent organization, reliability, attendance, punctuality and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS office applications, e-mail and ability to work with scanning, digital fax and electronic medical record (EMR) program; previous experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) program preferred
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent writing, verbal and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated achievement of good working relationships with previous colleagues
  • Professional, compassionate, positive, motivated, solution-oriented and flexible
  • Bilingual in Punjabi an asset


COVID-19 Considerations:


All staff are required to be fully vaccinated, wear full PPE (provided): N95 mask, medical gown, gloves while facing patients and in common areas. Common surfaces are sanitized regularly, and social distancing is maintained.
