About Good Neighbour Project: 

 The Good Neighbour Project (GNP), launched in March 2020, is a Canadian charity dedicated to providing on-the-ground support to connect isolated vulnerable people with resources and necessities. Created at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, GNP mobilized over 6000 volunteers in 25 cities to address an access gap between equity-seeking members of the community and essential items like food and medication. In addition to its volunteer delivery support program and seniors socialization initiative, GNP is currently developing other poverty relief initiatives.

About Role: 

The Good Neighbour Project (GNP) is seeking community-focused and passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. Board members will act as advisors, overseeing and providing strategic leadership to the various programs at GNP. They will also be participating in board meetings, collaborating with the operational teams, and contributing expertise to ensure the overall success of the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Mentor assigned GNP program team, providing support in its strategic development and direction 
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings, offering insights and constructive contributions to discussions 
  • Provide support to fundraising efforts 
  •  Host Annual General Meeting 
  • Advocate for GNP and create opportunities in support of the organization’s strategic objectives 
  • Stay informed about the needs and aspirations of GNP and the community it serves

The Ideal Candidate has the following: 

  • Prior experience on a not-for-profit/charity Board or relevant leadership roles 
  • Experience in strategic planning and project management 
  • Networking and stakeholder management experience in a not-for-profit/charity setting 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to cope well under pressure 
  • Experience with developing ideas into action and the ability to coordinate a team to execute the idea
Volunteer Time Commitment: 
  •  A minimum of 5 hours to a maximum of 10 hours per month
