About This Opportunity

YOU can be that person for a young person in Calgary by volunteering as a Mentor with Hull Services. Hull Services is a non-profit organization whose mission is to partner with young people and families, building resilience today for a brighter tomorrow.

How you can help:
We are currently looking for 1:1 and Group Mentors for children & youth who live in Calgary and surrounding areas.

Have fun while being a positive role model,  supporting the development of their strengths, building their self-esteem, and exposing them to new interests and opportunities. Caring and supportive relationships are essential to a young person's development and well-being. At Hull Services, mentors are integral part of our holistic approach to treatment and care. Mentors are often the only unpaid support in these children’s lives.

What’s in it for you?
It feels good to do good. Your time, perspective and skills can influence a young person’s path and future. Throughout your involvement, our team at Hull Services will be there to provide support and guidance. You will have access to Hull's amazing team of professionals, including training and ongoing support.

Role Description:
1:1 Volunteer Mentors will engage in community activities in person with the young person. Talk, play, explore and spend time supporting a young person. Group Mentors will spend time visiting with various youth living in a program on our Woodbine campus in southwest Calgary. Visits occur once a week on average, and last for a minimum of one year. Ideally, mentors will continue their relationship beyond one year as a natural support in the young person's life.

Training:
Pre & post match training required.  A police and child intervention check is required, which we can help you apply for.

Locations of opportunities:
We serve children & youth from all over Calgary and surrounding area.  Group Mentors would be volunteering on our campus in the community of Woodbine (SW Calgary)

Commitment:
An average of 1 to 4 hours per week (about 6-8 hours/month), for a minimum of one year once matched. Flexible evening and weekend availability is required.

Application form is required to apply: www.hullservices.ca/mentor. Contact Marilyn Boston (Program Coordinator) at (403) 207-2560 or mentors@hullservices.ca with any questions.
