About This Opportunity
Role Purpose Summary:
Provide musical entertainment and/or accompaniment to support the music program and regular chapel services on piano or other instruments, promoting the positive wellbeing of the residents and program participants.
Key Accountabilities:
• Playing a musical instrument once a month or more for weekly Chapel as per volunteer availability and program needs.
• Repertoire could include traditional hymns/familiar favorites to be played while our residents/program participants sing along.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrates strong piano skills as a soloist and accompanist.
• Ability to play an instrument; comfortable playing/singing in front of a group.
• Works collaboratively with the spiritual care chaplains.
• Patient, positive disposition and a willingness to help others.
• Good, clear communication skills.
• Ability to initiate and maintain conversation while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Familiarity with vulnerable populations an asset (mental health, addictions, homelessness).
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and references mandatory for this position.
Schedule:
• Dates/times vary according to program need.
• Reports directly to Spiritual Care Manager.
• Volunteers should make every effort to attend scheduled shifts and arrive on site on or before the scheduled time. If unable to arrive in time or attend a scheduled shift, volunteers are requested to advise the program manager as soon as possible.
