About This Opportunity
York St. Peter’s Evangelistic Organization (YSPEO) is a Christian charity dedicated to sharing the love of Christ through service, compassion, and community outreach. Our Outreach Trailer ministry is a mobile mission designed to reach the homeless, the poor, and those living in tent encampments throughout Toronto and the GTA.
OUR FIRST OUTREACH WILL BE ON: Saturday November 29, 2025
Twice per month our trailer travels into local communities loaded with hot or cold meals, hot or cold drinks, fruit, vegetables, warm clothing, and essential outdoor supplies at no cost as they are donated. We don’t just bring food but we bring friendship, prayer, and hope to people who often feel lost, in distress, and forgotten. In the winter and Christmas season we visit more frequently.
We are seeking caring Christian volunteers to join our team. Opportunities include:
3 Cooks / Food Handlers Needed Inside the trailer– Help prepare and serve delicious, nutritious meals such as porridge, fruit, vegetables, stews, rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, sandwiches, and salads. All food ingredients will be provided. Food volunteers may prepare meals at home, store them safely in suitable containers, and bring them for warming and serving from the Outreach Trailer. A Food Handler’s Certificate is not required but would be a valuable asset among our team. Those who prepare food will work inside of the Outreach trailer. 2 will dish out, and 1 will pour drinks. Your cooking will help bring comfort, nourishment, and joy to those in need.
8 Outreach Volunteers – will work outside to help hand out food, distribute clothing and outdoor supplies, talk, listen, pray, and share Gospel tracts. There will be a portable keyboard, microphone and amp available.
A typical service lasts 2 hours, and is always on a Saturday morning or afternoon. For example: We arrive with the trailer at 11am, start up the generator and get the food heated. Volunteers arrive at the location by 11:45am and get in their places. We honk our horn, open our doors, and the homeless line up for food. The two in the trailer kitchen dish food into containers and put on the lid. Another person pours the drinks, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, punch, adds the lid then another person passes the food to the outside volunteers who distribute it. Lunch service is finished in 45 minutes to an hour. We pack up, close up the trailer and we are heading home by 1pm. We may do morning hours of 9am - 11am with perhaps a porridge, brown sugar, fruit, bread, and coffee breakfast. We often give wrapped sandwiches as they can be stored and eaten at any time without needing to heat.
Volunteers should have a compassionate heart, a willingness to work outdoors, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. If you are strong in worship, or a short inspiration bout of teaching, we do have portable instruments and amplifiers.
Strong Christian males and females are encouraged to join our team. We need people who can serve not only with their hands but with their hearts. By serving with YSPEO, you’ll help bring warmth, nourishment, and the love of God to those who need it most.
Each visit is to an familiar location and perhaps a new location. We also visit the Dundas Street encampments, the Dufferin Bloor area, and various poor Etobicoke and North York communities building complexes. Our hope is to setup an outreach service two times per month.
