About This Opportunity
YouCreate is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Podcast Co-host to join our team in producing Mynistypiksiiks (Many Different Birds), a podcast focused on Indigenous perspectives on health and wellness. As a co-host, you will play a vital role in facilitating open and meaningful conversations with guests from various backgrounds, including elders, community members, healthcare workers, and cultural advisors. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the main host and production team to plan and outline podcast episodes.
- Conduct interviews with guests, fostering a welcoming environment for sharing lived experiences and knowledge.
- Engage in discussions around healthcare challenges faced by Indigenous communities, encouraging critical reflection among listeners.
- Assist with research on relevant topics and prepare discussion points to enhance episode content.
- Promote episodes on social media platforms to engage the University of Calgary campus community and beyond.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to the overall growth and direction of the podcast.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in Indigenous health and wellness topics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to facilitate discussions and engage with diverse perspectives.
- Experience with podcasting, interviewing, or public speaking is a plus but not required.
- Passion for community service and promoting cultural understanding.
Time Commitment: This role requires a commitment of 2-4 hours per week.
