CivicAction is looking for 8-10 Project Coordinators/Team Leads to join our Youth CivicCorps program to lead a placement team of 4-5 volunteers on projects focused on housing, affordability and economic inclusion.

Responsibilities
As our Project Coordinator / Team Lead, you'll be the driving force behind your placement team's success. Your responsibilities will include:
Project Leadership: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of assigned project related to housing and affordability. This could include anything from research initiatives, advocacy campaigns, community outreach programs, to event planning and execution.
Team Management: Guide and support a team of 4-5 volunteers, delegating tasks effectively, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring everyone feels valued and engaged.
Planning & Organization: Work with Placement Hosts to develop a clear project plan, set realistic timelines, and track progress to ensure projects stay on track and meet their objectives.
Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for your team, facilitating regular check-ins, ensuring smooth communication with Youth CivicCorps staff and Placement Hosts.
Problem-Solving: Proactively identify potential challenges and work with your placement team to find creative and effective solutions.
Time Commitment
6-month time commitment
3 months of pre-placement training, typically one session per week
3 months of placement, typically one volunteer day per week
Location
This is a hybrid volunteer opportunity, with both in person and virtual training and placements
Eligibility Requirements
Geography: Located in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area
Age: Between the ages of 18-30 (at the start of placement)
Status: Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee
Commitment: Able to commit 120 hours throughout your time as a volunteer in the program
Nice to Have
Organizational Skills: Excellent planning, time management, and organizational abilities.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate goals, provide constructive feedback, and motivate a team.
Problem-Solving Mindset: Resourceful and proactive in addressing challenges.
Team Player: Ability to foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Motivated & Passionate: A genuine interest in housing and affordability issues and a commitment to making a positive community impact.
Reliability: Dependable and able to commit to the 6-month time commitment.
Screening Process
Application form with 6 short answer questions
Resume + 1 recommendation letter
Group Interview
Screening for qualities such as motivation, leadership, collaboration, alignment and mindset
Sign off on program policies and code of conduct
Orientation And Training
Virtual orientation session will be held on Tuesday August 12
Project coordinators/Team Leads will receive +30 hours of training on leadership, well-being and collaboration
